Gradually moving away from the idea of a fair princess with perfect hair, sipping tea and dreaming of her prince charming, Disney movies are portraying women in more prominent roles as characters who don’t need saving by a prince charming
Finally.Little girls seek role-models to look up to as they grow up but are more likely to follow the example of girls like them committing same mistakes, facing the same dilemmas and going ahead to conquer them all to achieve the unthinkable. This instils in the importance of equality in a male-dominated society with examples of defiance and also teaching them the importance of hard work and struggle.

Breaking the conventional notion of Disney Princesses, of slender bodies and perfectly drawn faces, this movie was the first of it’s kind to break the stereotype and feature two women lead characters who look nothing like their contemporaries. The independent role which the elder sister plays and looks after her little sister makes this the most fitting watch for little girls

Disney’s first black princess is a boss-lady who strives to fulfil her dreams of opening her own business by working hard on her own. Princess or not, she teaches young girls that hard work is a necessary prerequisite which can never be done away with

A lioness with an opinion and a voice. She refuses to be tamed and goes ahead to forge her own destiny by following her heart. Doing so, she preaches the true meaning of love- everlasting peace.
